Antwerp, Belgium – 19th July 2018. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.. We are talking about migrating an operator from one or multiple systems to Skylegs. Even though transformation can be demanding, most commonly it transpires as improvement. Change that results from the adoption of new technologies is frequently essential to remain competitive in a rapidly advancing and growing industry such as aviation.
Skylegs does not over-complicate the migration process as our mission is to save as much historical and future data as possible, while striving towards simplicity. There is a reason operators choose our solution to help with their operational needs because we understand first of all the business, and also the pains of change. We have been constantly improving this process by the feedback of our clients, while using straightforward tools for seamless integration and quick, painless results.
Besides being frequently the first option for smaller size companies, selecting our software as the solution for their operations, we are often approached by aircraft operators who are not satisfied with their current solution or feel like there is space for improvement. That’s why our team has plenty of experience with converting operators who already have another system in place. A seamless workflow from the sales team through planning, OCC, maintenance department to pilots is imperative. Today, we see a movement from legacy desktop systems like FOS, Bizflight, Aviator,.. to the cloud based ones like Skylegs.
Changing systems is an important decision which should not be made lightly as it affects all departments of a company. If the decision is made to convert, it can be stressful to transfer all the data and set up a new system in place. But in the end it al starts with a plan..
Dependable on the size of the operator we select a one-time data transfer or synchronised approach. First we connect to the legacy system’s database which holds flight, crew, client, passenger, duty and other precious records. If it is a legacy system we did not migrate from yet we have to reverse engineer the database and create conversion code. This is a task we are not shy from as we believe your data is very valuable.
Secondly we transfer once and then shadow-run both software for a certain period until the people feel comfortable. Or we synchronise continually until the point is reached to stop using the legacy system.
Being apprehensive about change is commonly the biggest challenge for people as they are often resistant to it. Instead, they should embrace it when orchestrated correctly. The feedback we get after users familiarising themselves with our platform, is that they are pleasantly surprised to discover how it can improve communication, accesability and save time in a transparent matter over their previous software.
Skylegs can help your organisation uncover hidden potential and let your company enhance her operations by having more transparent performance as well as a competitive advantage.
